Caroline Smith is Associate Professor of Mathematics at James Madison University. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Exeter with a BSc in Mathematics in 1984. She then earned a Ph.D. in Engineering in 1988 for research in aeroacoustics conducted in association with BP. From 1988 to 1992
Dr. Smith was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of Exeter where she did research on the development of mathematical models of cross flow filtration systems. She then became a Lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Plymouth. In 1994 she was promoted to Senior Lecturer, a position she held until her academic appointment in the United States. She has been a member of SOLE since June 1995 and served as Treasurer of the Southwest Chapter in the UK. |
